Dan uses his years of experience to help students pick colleges that are the right fit: academically, socially, financially, geographically, and when needed athletically, or artistically.
For many years, the CEO of College and Beyond LLC, Dan Bisig, has been providing timely advice to parents and students about college scholarships, career identification, college selection, application and essay review, college admissions timelines, test prep, college funding and much more.
Families are confronted with many decisions: How do test scores, GPA, extra-curricular activities and athletics, just to name a few, factor into the selection process? How do you find scholarships? What college to choose – public or private, highly competitive or a more relaxed environment? What major or career should the student select? And the BIG question, how are you going to pay for your child’s dream college?
College applications, essays, and financial aid forms must be completed in a timely fashion. Dan helps students and parents navigate their way through every aspect of the college process. He wants each of his families to see their son or daughter attend the right college, at the right price, pursue the right major and graduate right on time!

ABOUT College Expert – DAN BISIG
A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, Dan began his career in 1991 in the insurance and investment business as a financial planner. In 2006, a client came to him with a major problem. They had two daughters and a son who were attending private high schools and their oldest daughter was just a year way from going to college. The problem is that Dad and Mom only had $5,000 saved for college and had no idea how they were going to cover the rest of the price tag.
“I’m a problem solver,” Dan says. “I was able to take a tough situation, spend the necessary time with this family and put together a solid college funding plan. It required their daughter picking the right college and doing everything possible to help pay for it, but our plan worked. In fact, all 3 of their children successfully attended and graduated from college.”
From this experience, College and Beyond was born.
Over the years, Dan has become an expert at every aspect of the college process. Every year he visits colleges and talks to and meets with admissions counselors and financial aid administrators to keep up with the ever-changing college landscape.
Dan’s first word of advice for parents and students: “Do not procrastinate!”
“I meet families every year who never got around to talking about college or how they were going to pay for it. Waiting until the last minute to have this conversation often causes families huge amounts of stress and anxiety and in turn forces them to make tough choices when it comes to picking a final college.”
Dan provides a practical perspective throughout the college process that continues all the way up to the day a student makes their final college choice, attends freshman orientation, and ultimately sends in their first tuition payment.
“Helping families with college is more than just financial counseling,” he explains. “The comprehensive work we do is life changing and the greatest compliment we receive is when someone refers a family member or friend to us. Every year I get invited to attend graduation parties for my students and help celebrate their accomplishments. Families have told me the assistance I provided has been invaluable, and I’m proud of the work I do at College and Beyond.
