Congratulations to those of you who have 2023 Graduating Seniors! All of your student’s hard work has paid off especially as they complete 4 years of high school that have been filled with many challenges due to the pandemic. For those of you whose students are still in school for a few more days or weeks, it is important to know that colleges look at grades up until the END of senior year, so encourage your student to finish strong.

Be sure to enjoy this important chapter of life because it can be hard as you let your kids transition into adulthood. If they will be heading off to college in the fall, now is a great time to spend as much quality time with your graduate as possible. Encourage your senior to take some time off this summer to enjoy life while also helping them prepare for college. Gather a list of items they will need to bring to campus, finalize room and board details, pick classes, and join college Instagram and Facebook groups so they can get to know some of their future college peers and maybe even their roommate.

If you have a high school freshman, sophomore, or junior, encourage them to take a look into the future by brainstorming where they want to attend college and what they might want to study. Use the summer months to schedule an in-person or virtual tour of your student’s top colleges. Summer is a great time to visit college campuses because your student should have some free time and hopefully mom and dad have some available vacation time. Summer is also perfect for adding volunteer opportunities and work experience to your student’s high school resume. Every item counts and it is much easier to build a terrific resume early versus scrambling at the very end trying to fill in their shortcomings. Help them be proactive now so they can reap the rewards in the future!
